
SCR alerts passengers about fare refund for cancelled trains

Full fare paid is refundable to the passenger for the entire journey without any cancellation charges, only when the ticket is surrendered.
South Central Railway (SCR) has notified that in case of full cancellation of a train due to accidents, breaches, floods, bandh or rail roko etc., in unavoidable circumstances, the reservation ticket booked through PRS (Passenger Reservation System) counter should be surrendered in any PRS counter of any railway station within three days of the scheduled departure of the train.
Full fare paid is refundable to the passenger for the entire journey without any cancellation charges, only when the ticket is surrendered. In case of tickets booked through online means, the e-ticket will be cancelled automatically and the full refund of fare will be processed through IRCTC and credited to the bank account.
It is also advised to provide the mobile numbers of bonafide passengers only, while booking the tickets, for the Railways to inform about any last-minute change in train schedule, said a press release on Monday.
