Numerous flex boards and banners were erected by the Congress workers for the swearing-in ceremony of Youth Congress office-bearers at Palace Grounds on Monday. Addressing the issue a day earlier, Mr. Shivakumar had instructed BBMP Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath to take immediate action against illegal advertisements, particularly around Palace Grounds.
“I have ordered the removal of unauthorised banners and flex boards. Those responsible should take them down voluntarily. If not, strict action, including fines, will be imposed,” Mr. Shivakumar said, urging Youth Congress members to showcase their strength at polling booths instead of through such displays.
Mr. Giri Nath said that since Sunday, 12 FIRs had been registered, and fines amounting to ₹12 lakh had been levied. Over 1,350 illegal flexes and banners were taken down across East, West, and Yelahanka zones, along with the removal of more than 600 party flags.
