Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Monday inaugurated a park, which was recently renovated with assistance from M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women, under the ‘Namakku Naame’ initiative. The GCC park has been renovated with the assistance of ₹30 lakh from the college, an official release said. Minister K.N. Nehru, Chennai Mayor R. Priya, legislator N. Ezhilan, Principal of M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women Archna Prasad and others were present on the occasion.

Following protests by residents of Mittaganahalli and Kannur villages over dumping the city’s waste in the Mittaganahalli quarry pit, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will soon issue tenders and work orders and begin work on rural development projects worth ₹500 crore in these areas, Chief Civic Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath said on Monday.
