New Delhi PWD Minister inspects Rohtak Road construction, transfers project to NHAI for better connectivity and drainage improvements.
New Delhi
Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh on Saturday inspected ongoing construction work at Rohtak Road, a key route connecting Haryana to Delhi, and Barapullah flyover.
After multiple complaints from locals, the Minister earlier this month transferred the construction project from the PWD to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
Now, the NHAI will handle the redevelopment of an 18-km stretch between Peeragarhi Chowk and the Tikri Border (Delhi-Haryana border), while the PWD will be in charge of the drainage.
The drainage construction on Rohtak Road is expected to cost approximately ₹115 crore. It is scheduled for completion within 14 months, the PWD said in an official statement.
During the inspection, Mr. Singh slammed the previous Aam Aadmi Party government, alleging that the former representatives didn’t pay proper attention to the road’s “poor condition”.
“The condition of Rohtak Road was extremely bad, and people often complained that no government representative ever visited. Now, drainage work has started, and the entire road has been handed over to the NHAI,” said the Minister.
