BJP victory in MLC elections seen as rejection of baseless allegations by Telangana Chief Minister, says party president.
The victory of the BJP candidates in the MLC elections is the people’s verdict against the baseless allegations made by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy against him and his party during the campaign said party president and Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy on Thursday.
“There is clarity on the political landscape with these elections. For the second time after it came to power, people have voted against the Congress party. The Chief Minister is dodging responsibility in implementing the guarantees and resorting to attacking our party. But, the people did not believe him and voted in our favour. They sent the right message to those dreaming of being in power for 10 years,” said the BJP leader.
Talking to the media after felicitating the newly elected MLCs – Komaraiah and Anji Reddy at the State office, Mr. Kishan Reddy said the party is not going to be overtly excited with the wins and instead will be focusing on further strengthening its support base in the coming days with the slogan - ‘Save Telangana, Support BJP’ .
“All the eight MLAs, eight MPs and three MLCs will be in the forefront of being the people’s heartbeat in putting pressure on the Congress government to implement the promised guarantees and also question its various decisions,” he said.
Mr. Kishan Reddy also pointed out that teachers and graduates serve as the “opinion makers” in the villages, hence having their representatives in the Legislative Council will help the party take up their respective causes. Only a “double engine” government will be able to fulfil the dreams of those who fought for the separate State of Telangana. “Both the Congress government and the previous BRS regime had failed on all fronts with their arrogant and corrupt rule going against the aspirations of the Telangana people,” he charged.
