Motorists welcome removal of traffic signal at Kurichi tank - Podanur junction, replaced with roundabout for smoother traffic flow.
Motorists have welcomed the removal of a traffic signal and introduction of a roundabout at the Kurichi tank - Podanur junction.
Of late, the city police have been introducing roundabouts and U turns on almost all the arterial roads, thus, removing the signals. While a majority of these are welcomed, there glitches in some signals.
The roundabouts at Lawley Road, Mettupalayam Road, Chinthamani, Brooke Bond Road, Kikkani school and Ganapathy Moor Market area have been welcomed by motorists.
City Police Commissioner A. Saravana Sundar has ordered for the removal of the signal at the Kurichi tank - Podanur junction and the work for creating a roundabout is almost nearing completion. Within a week or two, the roundabout would be put to use.

When reporters brought to her notice the claim by villagers that the late maharaja of Mysore Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar had gifted the land to them, Pramoda Devi Wadiyar said she is not aware of the matter, but sought to assure people that no effort will be made to take back the land that had been gifted by the late maharaja.
