
New cardiac catheterization laboratory inaugurated at CMC

New Cardiac Catheterization Lab at CMC Vellore offers advanced emergency cardiac care services to patients in Vellore Town.
A new state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory was inaugurated at the Department of Cardiology at the Christian Medical College (CMC) in Vellore on Wednesday.
According to a press release, Vikram Mathews, director, CMC, who opened the new facility, re-emphasised CMC’s commitment to serve the people in Vellore. “The new facility will primarily cater to patients admitted to the Vellore Town campus of CMC, requiring emergency cardiac care. It is also the seventh catheterization laboratory lab under the Department of Cardiology at CMC in Vellore, said Dr. Mathews.
Further, he said that CMC has provided cardiac catheterization services to patients in the town and elsewhere since 1980s. Interventional cardiology in CMC has made great strides and has been providing services for patients with heart attacks, valvular heart disease, aneurysms involving the aorta, pediatric cardiology, and cardiac rhythm disorders, the release said.

“Earth Day celebrations have already started in Bengaluru, with campaigns at various colleges such as St. Josephs, and Christ University where life-size elephants made from the invasive species, Lantana Camera, have been travelling to spread the message of conservation and coexistence, along with expert talks from WWF India and Ravi Chellam of Metastring Foundation,” said the release.
