
Nearly 20 PwD participate in Tata Mumbai Marathon on behalf of ASSA

Twenty persons with disabilities from ASSA participate in Tata Mumbai Marathon, led by Anbu Ramesh and supported by Deepak Lal.
Twenty persons with disabilities including six wheel chair users participated in the Tata Mumbai Marathon on behalf of the Amar Seva Sangam (ASSA), an Tamil Nadu-based NGO working for rehabilitation of persons with disabilities.
The team of athletes was lead by Anbu Ramesh and supported by Deepak Lal, a spinal-injured person and public relations officer for ASSA. The organisation has been participating in the event for the past two decades.
The organisation’s top fundraisers were Sankara Raman and his spouse have been top fundraisers for many years. Secretary of ASSA, Mr. Raman, a wheelchair user himself was an important part of this initiative since 2005.

“Earth Day celebrations have already started in Bengaluru, with campaigns at various colleges such as St. Josephs, and Christ University where life-size elephants made from the invasive species, Lantana Camera, have been travelling to spread the message of conservation and coexistence, along with expert talks from WWF India and Ravi Chellam of Metastring Foundation,” said the release.
