More shade pavilions and water and buttermilk distribution points will be set up across Chennai, Mayor R. Priya said recently. Speaking at a press meet while inspecting development projects in the city, she stated that such facilities would be added in response to requests from councillors of each ward to help the public cope with the heat in the ongoing summer season.
In Perungudi, she inspected various development projects. In Ward 184, she reviewed the construction of an Animal Birth Control (ABC) centre being built under capital funds at a cost of ₹1.61 crore. She also inspected the ongoing construction of a cattle shed being built at ₹2.50 crore. At Kilinjal Lake, she reviewed the restoration work being carried out under the Singara Chennai 2.0 scheme at a cost of ₹40 lakh. She instructed officials to complete all the work and make them operational at the earliest.
In Sholinganallur zone, she laid the foundation stone for a multi-purpose building on the Ward 195 office premises, funded through her development fund at ₹50 lakh. She also inspected the construction of a community welfare centre along Rajiv Gandhi Road, being built under Singara Chennai 2.0 at a cost of ₹5.81 crore. In Ward 200, Tsunami Nagar, she inaugurated a modern women’s gymnasium built at a cost of ₹40 lakh.
Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner J. Kumaragurubaran was present.
