Vande Bharat Express gets stoppage at Haveri

Minister V. Somanna announces expansion of Vande Bharat Express services in Karnataka, emphasizing railway development and modernization.
Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna, who also holds the Jal Shakti portfolio, has said that in addition to the four Vande Bharat Express trains operating from four places in the State, very shortly Vande Bharat services will be flagged off from three more districts.
He was addressing a gathering after flagging off Vande Bharat Express train service in Haveri on Friday, marking the newly sanctioned stoppage for the train.
The Minister said that Vande Bharat Express services are already being operated from 104 places in the county, including four in the State.
“Indian Railways is the development engine for the country. Like the development of the nation, the Railways has to be developed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream is to create Viksit Bharat by 2047 and accordingly, thousands of crores of rupees are being spent on upgradation of various facilities in the country,” he said.
Mr. Somanna said that grants to the tune of ₹7,600 crore have been allocated for railway projects in the State for the financial year 2025-26.
“In all, 61 railway stations in the State are being developed and several train services have been launched. The Railways is contemplating launching sleeper services at affordable cost. This apart, the target is to alleviate all level crossings in the country by the end of 2025. Already, installation of indigenous Kavach for prevention of railway accidents has begun,” he said.
The Minister said that ₹24 crore has been sanctioned for the development of Haveri Railway Station and five ROBs and one RUB have been sanctioned in Haveri Lok Sabha Constituency.
