Fishing ban in Konaseema from midnight of April 14

Indian authorities prepare for annual fishing ban in Bay of Bengal to protect marine fish species during breeding season.
The Indian Coast Guard, AP Marine Police, and fisheries authorities are gearing up to ensure the effective implementation of the annual fishing ban in the Bay of Bengal, which will begin at midnight on April 14 in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Konaseema district.
Traditional boats without engines will be allowed to continue fishing, and there will be no restrictions on fishing activities in the backwaters.
In an official release, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district fisheries officer P. V. Srinivasa Rao explained the importance of the ban for safe breeding of marine fish species. He said: “All fishing boat operators have been directed to observe the annual 61-day fishing ban for a safe breeding season of marine fish species. Fish caught by boats should be sold by April 15.”
