Participating in an interactive session on his film Aghanashini speaks – river rhythms, Mr. Bhat said his film raised awareness about the need to conserve rivers in their natural state. The film has played a key role in proposing Aghanashini estuary as a Ramsar site, which it eventually became.
He called upon students to come out with photographs, videos and write articles, which would lead to conserving Netravathi river in its natural form.
The documentary filmmaker and Deputy Commissioner State GST Sahana Balkal said students should nurture their skills and allow it to become either their source of joy or livelihood.
Alva’s Education Foundation’s (AEF) Managing Trustee Vivek Alva also spoke. The programme was organised by AEF’s The Rostrum Speakers’ Club.
