McDonald’s chooses Hyderabad to set up global capability centre with 2,000 people

McDonald's to establish global capability centre in Hyderabad, creating 2,000 jobs, boosting economy and community development.

McDonald’s has chosen Hyderabad to set up its global capability centre (GCC) with an initial headcount of 2,000 people, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s office said after the American fast food restaurant chain’s top executives met him in Hyderabad on Wednesday (March 19, 2025).

“In a meeting with McDonald’s Chairman and CEO Chris Kempczinski, who was accompanied by President Global Business Services Skye Anderson, Chief Global Impact officer Jon Banner and GBS India Head Deshant Kaila, the two sides reached a final agreement,” the CMO said, announcing the forging of a major partnership spanning several areas.

It is a red-letter day for Telangana as a global investment destination, growth of industries and empowerment of people through opportunities, it said in a release.

Hyderabad was selected over other competing cities such as Bengaluru because of the high quality talent, better infrastructure and superior quality of living, Mr. Kempczinski said.

Mr. Reddy expressed delight that McDonald’s Global Office in India will be located in Hyderabad. He had ensured the State gave the best offering to the multinational to ensure a positive outcome in the backdrop of stiff competition from several other Indian states, and cities, the CMO said.

Highlighting the State government initiatives to impart and enhance skills among youth in the last 15 months, the Chief Minister urged McDonald’s to benefit from the Young India Skills University by getting trained employees not just for its global office, but also for its restaurant operations in the country. McDonald’s, through its Indian business partner, has 38 outlets in Telangana and plans to add three to four every year, including in tier II and III cities.

Mr. Reddy offered that the State government can source entire agriculture produce needed by McDonald’s from the local farming community, which in turn would give a big boost to the agricultural economy and augment farmers income. Mr Kempczinski  briefed the Chief Minister and the officials present, including Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, Special Chief Secretary to IT department Jayesh Ranjan and Secretary to Chief Minister Ajith Reddy, about the community development programmes of McDonald’s worldwide. He assured of deepening such programmes further in Telangana in consultation with the government.
