The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) launched a drive on Sunday and raided a slew of business establishments and shops and seized single-use plastic from them.
The authorities raided the establishments in Santhepete, Aane Sarot Road, Shivarampete main road, etc., and seized 435 kg of single-use plastic material.
The authorities said though single-use plastic material is banned, some establishments persist in using them and hence a drive was conduced to send a strong message to the public that it was a violation of the law.
The authorities also warned the traders and collected ₹70,000 as a fine from them.

When reporters brought to her notice the claim by villagers that the late maharaja of Mysore Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar had gifted the land to them, Pramoda Devi Wadiyar said she is not aware of the matter, but sought to assure people that no effort will be made to take back the land that had been gifted by the late maharaja.
