Telangana government announces establishment of dedicated police station for HYDRAA to focus on asset protection and disaster management in Hyderabad.
The Government of Telangana announced the establishment of a dedicated police station for the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) at B-Block, Budha Bhavan, Secunderabad.
The decision, formalised through a government order issued by Special Chief Secretary Ravi Gupta, aims at streamlining law enforcement activities within HYDRAA’s jurisdiction, focusing on asset protection and related issues.
HYDRAA, a unified agency for disaster management in the Telangana Core Urban Region, oversees the protection of urban assets, including lakes, parks, government lands, and open spaces. Its operational jurisdiction spans the Outer Ring Road and covers the tri-police Commissionerates, making the establishment of a dedicated police station essential for effective management. The new facility will address cases such as land grabbing, public property damage, and defacement among others.
The police station will be headed by an Assistant Commissioner of Police, designated as the Station House Officer, and will operate under the specific directives of HYDRAA’s Commissioner, the order said. This move will enhance the agency’s ability to register and investigate cases independently, reducing reliance the police stations, which are already burdened with cases.
The government has clarified that police personnel for the new station would be deputed from existing resources, as sanctioned in a prior government order.
