Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy hit out at Agriculture Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy on Monday, describing him as a “joker”.
“I won’t respond to jokers. There is no point in responding to people, who dont even know the issue,” Mr. Kumaraswamy said, referring to his friend-turned-foe Mr. Cheluvarayaswamy’s reported statement blaming former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda for the loss of IIT to Mandya.
“Does he know what IIT means? Should I reply to such jokers,” Mr Kumaraswamy asked.
With regard to setting up of an farm university in Mandya, Mr. Kumaraswamy said he had already welcomed the move to set up such a varsity in Mandya.
However, as an Agriculture Minister, he should first check the status of VC Farm. “What is the condition of the farm and its staff? Does he know that,” Mr. Kumaraswamy said.
Referring to Mr. Cheluvarayaswamy’s claims that he brought medical college and KSRTC division to Mandya, Mr. Kumaraswamy said the Agriculture Minister was not a Minister for even six months back in 2004. “He would not let me go home even at 3 a.m.”, Mr Kumaraswamy said before remarking that his health was ruined by staying around such people.

When reporters brought to her notice the claim by villagers that the late maharaja of Mysore Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar had gifted the land to them, Pramoda Devi Wadiyar said she is not aware of the matter, but sought to assure people that no effort will be made to take back the land that had been gifted by the late maharaja.
