Botcha Satyanarayana criticizes Chandrababu Naidu for spreading falsehoods about Andhra Pradesh's economic growth rate.
Senior YSRCP leader and MLC Botcha Satyanarayana has said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is spreading falsehoods about the State’s economic growth rate by showing the data released by the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI).
According to the data, the State achieved the second-highest economic growth rate in the country, with a growth rate of 8.21% for the year 2024-25. It recorded a Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of ₹8,65,013 crore for the year.
Mr. Botcha said: “The MoSPI estimated the GSDP for Tamil Nadu at 9.68% based on annual revenue growth of 13.01% till February 2024-25. A.P.’s annual revenue growth rate during the same period, however, was only 2.16%. How did the GSDP become 8.21% in A.P. then?”
Speaking to reporters here on Monday, he said that many States had not sent their data to MoSPI, but rankings were given to some, including Andhra Pradesh.
“How is GSDP increase possible if there is no increase in State revenue? If the rankings are true, why have the schemes promised during the poll not been implemented yet?” Mr. Botcha asked.
Mr. Botcha said that the previous government, under Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy as the Chief Minister, received an average of ₹70,000 crore in credits annually in 2019-24. But the coalition government (TDP, JSP and BJP) in the State received ₹1.48 lakh crore in credits in 10 months alone.
The YSRCP government received only ₹3.70 lakh crore in credits during its tenure and spent ₹2.7 lakh crore on welfare schemes through the Direct Benefit Transfer scheme. This TDP-BJP-JSP government received ₹1.48 lakh crore, but did not spend a single rupee on development, welfare and other schemes promised during the poll so far, he pointed out.
