CPI leader alleges BJP protects economic offenders, criticizes Modi government's failure to bring them back from abroad.
When Prime Minister Narendra Modi was able to bring back key conspirator behind the Mumbai terrorist attacks Tahawwur Hussain Rana, why has he failed to bring back economic offenders hiding abroad. This is because they are under the protection of the BJP leadership, Communist Party of India (CPI) national secretary K. Narayana alleged.
He made these statements during a meeting held at the Gandhi statue near the GVMC office in the city on Friday. The event was part of a nationwide campaign organised by the CPI from March 23 (the death anniversary of freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev) to April 14 (Ambedkar Jayanti).
Mr. Narayana, who attended the meeting as the chief guest, alleged that 28 out of the 29 major economic offenders who looted public wealth, are from Gujarat, and some even share the surname ‘Modi’. He alleged that these economic offenders are more dangerous than the terrorists, as they looted public money.
The CPI leader also alleged that when BJP came to power, the value of non-performing assets (NPAs) in the country was ₹2.5 lakh crore and in the last 11 years, it has increased to ₹16.5 lakh crore. This exposes the BJP government’s failure, he said.
Mr. Narayana alleged that though it is claimed that Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump are good friends, the latter has been imposing hefty tariffs, which will create hardships for India’s agriculture-based economy. He also said that dominance of the BJP has been clearly declining and it is very evident in the recent elections. There is a growing dissatisfaction among the public on the BJP government, he said.
Mr. Narayana alleged that though the BJP is destroying democracy, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan have been silent. He said that YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is the only person in the country who has been out on bail for 11 years, and claimed that this would not be possible without the support of Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah.
State Assistant Secretary J.V. Satyanarayana Murthy, corporator A.J. Stalin and others were present.
