Haryana CM criticizes Kejriwal for water mismanagement, accuses AAP of diverting drains, promises Delhi residents clean water.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday (January 27, 2025) hit out at former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of failing to make proper arrangements for water distribution, which he said has forced Delhi residents to consume contaminated water.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Saini alleged that the AAP government in Delhi systematically diverted 28 drains into the Yamuna river. He was responding to allegations made by Mr. Kejriwal, where he accused Haryana of releasing toxic water into the Yamuna river. Mr. Saini said, “The people of Delhi would teach him a lesson in the upcoming general elections.”
“Mr. Kejriwal has a habit of making baseless allegations and then avoiding responsibility. This reflects both Kejriwal’s personal approach and the mindset of his party,” Mr. Saini said. He added that he has asked Mr. Kejriwal to send his Chief Secretary and officers to Haryana, specifically to Sonipat, from where Haryana supplies water to Delhi, to inspect the quality of the water being provided.
“While there is no shortage of water, it is the mismanagement of the Delhi government that has left residents without access to clean water. Despite being in power for the last 10 years, Kejriwal had failed to improve the Delhi’s water distribution system, leading to the continued consumption of contaminated water by the Delhi residents,” Mr. Saini said.
Mr. Saini also took on the Congress, accusing it of resorting to politics in the name of farmers, while the BJP has always worked to empower them.
“Congress leaders should explain what steps they have taken in the interest of farmers. In contrast, the present State government is making efforts to ensure the prosperity of farmers. Haryana has become the first State in the country where the purchase of every grain of all crops is done at Minimum Support Price,” he said.

“Earth Day celebrations have already started in Bengaluru, with campaigns at various colleges such as St. Josephs, and Christ University where life-size elephants made from the invasive species, Lantana Camera, have been travelling to spread the message of conservation and coexistence, along with expert talks from WWF India and Ravi Chellam of Metastring Foundation,” said the release.
