
Government is committed to ensuring industrial development in Vijayapura, says Minister

Vijayapura district to transform into an industrial hub with focus on renewable energy, tourism, and infrastructure development.
The state government is committed to developing industries in Vijayapura district, Minister for heavy and medium industries, M.B. Patil said in Vijayapura on Sunday (January 26, 2025).
“It is already known as an agriculture and horticulture district. We will work towards making it an industrial district,” he said. He was speaking during the Republic Day celebrations.
He said plans were afoot to develop the district into an industrial hub with six sectors, namely energy sector equipment, machinery and equipment, non-metallic mineral products, agriculture and agro-based products, nutraceuticals, medicinal and botanical products, special alloys and metal products.
“Steps will be taken to establish a manufacturing cluster in Mulwad village under KIADB,” the Minister said.
“Focus will be laid on harvesting wind and solar power in Vijayapura district. In this regard, Sugyan Wind Power Unit has decided to start a 5,000 MW capacity unit in our district, for which 100 acres of land will be provided. Similarly, Renaissance Company will set up a solar panel components manufacturing unit in Vijayapura district with an investment of Rs. 6,000 crore. This will reach the level of 20,000 MW in the coming days, which will create a maximum of 3,000 jobs,’‘ he said.
“The historic Mamadapura Lake will be developed into an attractive destination at a cost of ₹1 crore under the CSR initiative. In addition, the biological park here has been named after Pujya Sri Siddeshwara Swamiji. The work of developing the Bhutanal Lake, Begum Talab, Golagumbaj, Ibrahim Roja, Kumatagi Lake, Summer Palace and Karada Dodda Man-Made Forest Area in and around Vijayapura Mahanagara Palike as beautiful tourist destinations is in progress with the help of the Department of Large and Medium Industries and CSR grants,’‘ he said.
Since April 2023, the state has received investments worth ₹1.15 lakh crore from prestigious companies like Foxconn, Jindal, Toyota, Air India and others. This investment is in the fields of iPhone parts manufacturing, wind power, car manufacturing and aircraft repair and maintenance etc.

“Earth Day celebrations have already started in Bengaluru, with campaigns at various colleges such as St. Josephs, and Christ University where life-size elephants made from the invasive species, Lantana Camera, have been travelling to spread the message of conservation and coexistence, along with expert talks from WWF India and Ravi Chellam of Metastring Foundation,” said the release.
