Erode (East) Assembly byelection DMK candidate V.C. Chandhirakumar expressed confidence in securing a victory with a margin of one lakh votes.
He addressed the media alongside Minister for Housing and Urban Development S. Muthusamy in Erode on Sunday.
He emphasised that the DMK’s campaign strategies and welfare schemes introduced by the State government such as the women’s rights grant scheme and the free travel for women, had reached the people effectively and would play a significant role in securing a decisive victory.
He highlighted that the DMK government was committed to fulfilling the promises made during the 2021 and 2023 elections by former MLAs Thirumahan Everaa and E.V.K.S Elangovan. Addressing local concerns, Mr. Chandhirakumar said Mr. Muthusamy and he would work together to resolve issues like traffic congestion. Projects like relocating the suburban bus stand and the vegetable market would be implemented to reduce congestion, he added.
Referring to previous projects, he noted that the baby canal near the Kalingarayan Canal, initiated five years ago, did not function as intended. He assured voters that the remaining issues would be addressed, and efforts made to meet the needs of the constituency.
Mr. Chandhirakumar also dismissed criticism about unfulfilled promises, asserting that the DMK government had consistently prioritised the welfare of people.

“Earth Day celebrations have already started in Bengaluru, with campaigns at various colleges such as St. Josephs, and Christ University where life-size elephants made from the invasive species, Lantana Camera, have been travelling to spread the message of conservation and coexistence, along with expert talks from WWF India and Ravi Chellam of Metastring Foundation,” said the release.
