Drones, CCTVs, and 20,000 policemen to monitor Sri Ram Navami Shobha Yatra on April 6
Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand presided over a coordination meeting on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami Shobha Yatra, at Draupadi Garden in Sitaram Bagh on Thursday.
The meeting was attended by officials from all departments.
The procession will start from Mangalhat, proceeding via Puranapool Gandhi Statue, Jummerath Bazaar, Siddiamber Bazaar, Afzalgunj, Gowliguda, Koti Andhra Bank cross roads, and end at Hanuman Vyamshala Ground.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Anand said that the Yatra started in 2010 and has gained fame across the country in a short time.
“We are making security arrangements from the beginning to the end to prevent any untoward incidents. The people and the organisers of the festival should cooperate with the police for the peaceful conduct of the yatra,” said the officer, requesting that arrangements be made to begin the procession of the Shobha Yatra by 1 p.m..
Keeping in mind past experiences, and considering that the Shobha Yatra route is quite narrow, making it difficult for large vehicles to pass, the festival committee members were asked to arrange a trial run with the vehicles in advance.
“Since the police department is monitoring security with the help of drones, it was suggested that anyone wishing to use drones should obtain permission from the local police in advance. Otherwise, it will cause problems for both the organisers and the police. It has been learned that people are experiencing heart problems and hearing issues due to the use of DJ sound systems. Therefore, for the welfare of everyone, using a regular sound system, instead of a DJ is advisable,” said the Commissioner.

When reporters brought to her notice the claim by villagers that the late maharaja of Mysore Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar had gifted the land to them, Pramoda Devi Wadiyar said she is not aware of the matter, but sought to assure people that no effort will be made to take back the land that had been gifted by the late maharaja.
