AI and future of economy
The Departments of Economics and Management Studies of G.T.N. Arts College, Dindigul, jointly organised a seminar on ‘Artificial Intelligence and the future of the economy: opportunities, challenges, and employment dynamics’ on January 22. P. Ravichandran, HoD of Economics, welcomed the gathering. Principal S. Saravanan delivered the presidential address. Bala Balamurugan of Thanthai Periyar Government Arts and Science College, Tiruchi, spoke on ‘The role of education and training in an AI-powered economy,’ K. Ramasamy of M.V.M. Government Arts College for Women, Dindigul, on ‘Academic and research excellence in the AI era - tips and tools’ and M.B. Arun Balakrishnan on ‘The impact of AI on job creation and skill development.’ More than 150 participants engaged with the resource persons in interactive discussions. V. Kaveri, HoD of Management Studies, proposed the vote of thanks.
Intercollegiate contests held
Intercollegiate competitions were organised by the Department of Computer Science of A.K.D. Dharma Raja Women’s College, Rajapalayam, recently. More than 200 students from five colleges participated in quiz contests, dance performances, and paper presentations. Certificates and prizes were distributed to the winners. Student Ponsuvetha delivered the welcome address. Principal Jamuna presided over the event and delivered the presidential address. Educational Advisor Sankaranarayanan, Vice Principal Manjula Devi, and HoD Dhanalakshmi offered felicitations. Student Muthuselvi proposed the vote of thanks.
Graduation ceremony
NPR Arts and Science College and NPR College of Engineering and Technology, Natham, celebrated 16th and10th graduation ceremony, on January 24. G.Viswanathan, Founder & Chancellor of VIT University, presided over the ceremony and distributed certificates to the graduands. B. Maruthukannan, Principal of the engineering college, delivered the welcome address. S. Thabasukannan, Principal of the arts college, offered felicitations. The chief guest, in his presidential address, emphasised the importance of education as the cornerstone of individual and societal progress. As many as 763 graduands received their certificates from the chief guest.
Workshop on Indian knowledge system

“Earth Day celebrations have already started in Bengaluru, with campaigns at various colleges such as St. Josephs, and Christ University where life-size elephants made from the invasive species, Lantana Camera, have been travelling to spread the message of conservation and coexistence, along with expert talks from WWF India and Ravi Chellam of Metastring Foundation,” said the release.

Vijayawada and Vizag metro rails: Centre approves appointment of SYSTRA MVA Consulting for preparing mobility plans. The New Delhi-based consultant has emerged as the successful bidder for preparing CMPs for both the projects. The Government of Andhra Pradesh has sanctioned DPRs for construction of the Visakhapatnam Metro Rail for a length of 46.23 km in three corridors at an estimated cost of ₹11,498 crore and the Vijayawada Metro Rail for a length of 38.40 km in two corridors at a cost of ₹11,009 crore.
