High poll drama unfolded in Delhi on Sunday when the BJP issued its third list for the Assembly election with just one name — that of its MLA who had publicly threatened to go against it hours earlier. In its second list of 29 candidates released on Saturday, the BJP decided to drop two of its sitting MLAs, one of them being Karawal Nagar legislator Mohan Singh Bisht, whom the party replaced with Kapil Mishra, accused of making hate speeches in the run-up to the north-east Delhi riots in February 2020, which left 53 people dead.

On Sunday afternoon, the MLA said that he would file his nomination from the same seat within five days.
“If the BJP thinks it will field anyone and win the seat, it is making a big mistake,” Mr. Bisht said, adding, “Time will tell the importance of ground-level workers”.
Later in the day, the BJP named the legislator from the neighbouring seat of Mustafabad. The MLA did not issue a reaction to the development till the time of going to press.

“Earth Day celebrations have already started in Bengaluru, with campaigns at various colleges such as St. Josephs, and Christ University where life-size elephants made from the invasive species, Lantana Camera, have been travelling to spread the message of conservation and coexistence, along with expert talks from WWF India and Ravi Chellam of Metastring Foundation,” said the release.
