Pinarayi Vijayan criticizes Congress for not opposing Sangh Parivar's communal agenda, accuses them of aiding BJP interests.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday slammed the Congress for “not opposing the communal agenda pursued by the Sangh Parivar in the country.”
“At a time when the nation required a joint effort to fight against the divisive agenda of the Sangh Parivar, the Congress seems to be aiding the interests of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP),” he said in his inaugural address at the conclusion of the Ernakulam district meet of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] here.
Mr. Vijayan accused the Congress of trying to help the BJP in the Delhi Assembly elections by opposing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The battle in Delhi is mainly between the AAP and the BJP. The Congress, which lacked a strong presence in Delhi, was helping the BJP by taking a position against the AAP, he alleged.
He said the Congress leadership had often taken a soft stand against the communal agenda of the BJP. Many former leaders of the Congress party had joined the BJP over these years, he added.
The violence in Manipur and the Waqf Bill were examples of the resolve of the BJP leadership to go ahead with its communal politics, he said.
