Collectors explain eligibility criteria, procedures to select beneficiaries for Rythu Bharosa, Indiramma Athmeeya Bharosa

Telangana district collectors explain the eligibility criteria, verification procedure for Telangana government’s schemes: Rythu Bharosa, Indiramma Athmeeya Bharosa, Indiramma Houses, and Food Security Cards.
A fortnight before the launch of four schemes by Telangana government on January 26, collectors of a few districts held meetings on the verification of applications, dates for the field level work, selection of beneficiaries and other aspects of Rythu Bharosa, Indiramma Athmeeya Bharosa, Indiramma Houses and Food Security Cards (Ration cards) on Sunday (January 12, 2025).
Mahabubnagar district collector Viziendira Boyi said that ₹12,000 per acre would be provided to farmers under Rythu Bharosa in two installments through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). She said that patta holders will receive the assistance based on the area of cultivable land registered on the Bhu Bharati (Dharani) portal. Vikarabad district collector Prateek Jain too said this at a meeting held with district officials. The lands which are not cultivable should not be considered for the scheme.
Ms. Viziendira said that all types of lands converted into houses or colonies, real estate layouts, lands converted into roads, lands used for industries, godowns, mining, all types of lands acquired by the government, lands with rocks and mounds that are not suitable for cultivation should be recognized as non-cultivable lands. The government too has announced guidelines for the scheme.
Landless farm labour will be provided with ₹12,000 per annum (₹6,000 each in two phases) under Indiramma Athmeeya Bharosa. She said that the labour who were enrolled under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and have worked for at least 20 days in 2023-24, are eligible for the scheme. The draft list should be read out at Gram Sabha and get approval.
Ms. Viziendira said that Mandal Parishad Development Officer (MPDO) at Mandal level and municipal commissioners at Town level would be responsible for field verification of the list of families without ration cards, collated through door-to-door survey. Additional collector (Revenue) and district Civil Supplies officer would supervise the work at district level. The collector explained the procedure involved in getting the final list. The Vikarabad collector said that apart from work to issue new ration cards, changes in the old ration cards should be taken up.
Regarding the selection of beneficiaries of Indiramma Houses scheme, Ms. Viziendira said that the verification should be completed by January 15. MPDO and municipal commissioners should check the work. The list should be displayed from January 16 to 20 and it should be announced during Gram Sabhas to get approval.
