
CM Stalin releases book documenting T.N.’s financial management from Sangam Age

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Monday (March 17, 2025) released a book issued by the Finance Department titled ‘Tamil Nadu Fiscal Management: Antiquity and Continuity’, which chronicles the State’s financial management from the Sangam Age to the present day.

He also launched a special webpage, https://www.tamildigitallibrary.in/budget, which will host the book.
The book contains information about ancient trade, rules for taxation, and financial management during the colonial period, and analyses the Budget documents of modern Tamil Nadu, according to a release.
It documents the history of financial management dating back many centuries, and has articles from reputed historians, the release added.
The Chief Minister released the book at the Secretariat, and the first copy was received by State Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu.
The new website would enable research in many fields, such as politics and history, the release said.
A senior official said the English version of the book would also be released soon.
Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam and Finance Secretary T. Udhayachandran, among other officials, were present.
