
CM Siddaramaiah honours actor Shabana Azmi with lifetime achievement award in Bengaluru

Shabana Azmi receives Lifetime Achievement Award at Bengaluru International Film Festival, honored by Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah.
Veteran actor Shabana Azmi was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at his residence ‘Kaveri’ in Bengaluru on March 10, 2025. Ms. Azmi was bestowed with the award as part of the just-concluded 16th Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFes).
Ms. Azmi was also presented with a cheque of ₹10 lakh. She was accompanied by her husband, renowned poet and lyricist Javed Akhtar.
CM Siddaramaiah reminisced watching Ms. Azmi in the 1988 music video, ‘Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’, and expressed his appreciation for her acting prowess. Ms. Azmi and Mr. Akhtar, in turn, praised Karnataka as for its rich cultural and musical heritage.
Government Secretary Kaveri, Chief Minister’s Media Advisor K.V. Prabhakar, and Information and Public Relations Commissioner Hemant Nimbalkar welcomed the couple.
Additional Chief Secretary L.K. Atheeq, Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy President Sadhu Kokila, and Vidya Shankar, the Artistic Director of the 16th edition of BIFFes, were also present.
Ms. Azmi was seen recently in the series, ‘Dabba Cartel’, currently streaming on Netflix.

While 530 pourakarmikas are on the rolls of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), about 1,650 others are receiving their monthly salaries directly from the civic body. However, the remaining outsourced workers, including loaders, drivers of garbage clearance vehicles and Under Ground Drainage (UGD) cleaners, estimated to be around 700 in MCC, continue to receive their salaries from a private agency, according to Karnataka Rajya Pourakarmikara Sangha President D. R. Raju.
