Police, Transport Departments, and NGOs organize awareness rally in Vizag to mark conclusion of Road Safety Month.
An awareness rally was organised by the Police and Transport Departments in association with various NGOs from the Gandhi statue, near GVMC, to Maddilapalem and back, to mark the conclusion of the Road Safety Month, on Saturday evening.
The rally was flagged off by District Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad. The Police and Transport officials spoke on the importance of safe driving habits and adherence to traffic rules. The motorcycle rally passed through Rama Talkies, Maddilapalem, Satyam junction, Gurudwara and RTC Complex. The participants raised slogans on road safety as the rally passed through the busy thoroughfares of the city.
NGOs, motor vehicle dealers, lorry owners’ association and driving schools were also involved in the safety programmes.
The road safety month was organised on the call given by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH), Government of India. The Transport Commissioner, AP, has also instructed all the District Transport Officers in the State to organise road safety programmes in coordination with other stakeholders like the Police, R & B, Panchayat Raj, Municipal, Medical and Health Departments and NHAI.
