Araku MP Gumma Tanuja Rani urges Sitharaman for tribal banks, financial institutions to boost economic growth.
Member of Parliament from Araku constituency, Gumma Tanuja Rani on Tuesday urged Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to take initiatives for the establishment of banks and financial institutions exclusively for tribal people who are unable to get loans due to various reasons and lack of documents for their properties.
Along with her husband and YSRCP leader Ch.Vinay, she met the Union Finance Minister in New Delhi. She explained the grievances of tribal people living in Parvatipuram-Manyam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and other districts, which are part of the Araku Parliamentary constituency.
“Many people from the Agency area cannot earn more in the absence of loan facilities required for business and agricultural activities. They can harvest more forest products such as timber, bamboo and medicinal plants,” Ms. Tanuja Rani explained in her representative submitted to Ms. Sitharaman.
According to her, tribal tourism would get an impetus if the local tribal people had access to loan facilities for the development of ecotourism and adventure tourism.
She expressed happiness over the positive response from Ms. Sitharaman on her proposals.

“Earth Day celebrations have already started in Bengaluru, with campaigns at various colleges such as St. Josephs, and Christ University where life-size elephants made from the invasive species, Lantana Camera, have been travelling to spread the message of conservation and coexistence, along with expert talks from WWF India and Ravi Chellam of Metastring Foundation,” said the release.
