115th anniversary of Sri Aurobindo's arrival in Puducherry observed with floral tributes by World Peace Trust and Bangavani Trust.
The 115th anniversary of Sri Aurobindo’s arrival in Puducherry was observed here on Friday. Organised by the World Peace Trust and Bangavani Trust, Nabadwip Dham, a large number of people and members of Sri Aurobindo Ashram paid floral tributes to the portrait of Sri Aurobindo.
“It is the 115th arrival anniversary of Sri Aurobindo in Puducherry. Starting on April 1, 1910, on a streamer Duplex from Kolkata, Sri Aurobindo arrived in Puducherry on April 4, 1910 at 4 p.m. He was received by nationalist Srinivasachari and poet and social reformer of Tamil Nadu Subramania Bharati. He was later taken to the house of Calve Shankara Chettiar, a prominent citizen of Puducherry,” said Dibyendu Goswami, convenor and Secretary of Bangavani Trust.
PWD Minister K. Lakshminarayanan and Speaker R. Selvam were present.

When reporters brought to her notice the claim by villagers that the late maharaja of Mysore Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar had gifted the land to them, Pramoda Devi Wadiyar said she is not aware of the matter, but sought to assure people that no effort will be made to take back the land that had been gifted by the late maharaja.
