Andhra Pradesh Government to crack down on illegal layouts, demolishing buildings violating rules post June 2012.
“Andhra Pradesh Government will take strict action against illegal layouts that were built without following the rules and guidelines,” Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister Ponguru Narayana said at a press conference, at his camp office on Friday night (December 6, 2024.)
Addressing the media, he said: “The State Government will demolish all the illegal buildings that were constructed by violating the rules and regulations after June 2012. The authorities will view the violations in the layouts through satellite pictures and remove them.”
Speaking about the unauthorised buildings constructed before June 2012, the Minister said, “The government is yet to take any decision on such layouts. We will discuss with the departments concerned to bring layout regularisation scheme (LRS) and building regularisation scheme (BRS).”
Mr. Narayana informed that the permissions have not been granted for the construction of apartments in a layout near Kondayapalem in SPSR Nellore district. The authorities are receiving 6-7 applications a day for approvals. He personally checked the layouts with deficiencies on Friday (December 6, 2024.)
He asserted that individual houses cannot be built without having an approach road. “Constructions should be done strictly as per the rules. Already, we have made several amendments to the existing rules. We have reduced the road-width requirement to thirty feet in a layout plan,” he informed.
