
35-year-old man arrested for sexual harassment of minor girl in Udupi

Udupi police have arrested a 35-year-old man from Bagalkot district in Karnataka for alleged sexual harassment of a minor girl in Udupi.
The police gave the name of the accused as Muttu 35, a resident of Hungund taluk in Bagalkot district.
The alleged incident took place on January 16. A 5-year-old girl was playing near a shop. The accused, who was seen seeking alms in Udupi, called the child by offering to buy chocolates. He allegedly took her to a lane and tried to touch her private parts. When the girl screamed, the accused ran away. Following a compliant, the police circulated an image of the accused, which was captured in CCTV camera, in the media and social media.
In a statement, the police said the accused was found on Vadiraja 3rd cross, near Udupi Krishna Mutt, on January 26. The accused is a nomad. He does not have a house in Udupi, the police stated.
