Minister for Public Works Satish Jarkiholi on Tuesday said the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, B.R. Ambekar, and Jawaharlal Nehru are relevant in the present age. More efforts have to be made to make villagers aware of the works of these stalwarts.
Speaking at the ‘Gandhi Ambedkar Nehru Swatantra Samvidhana Dhooradrusti’ workshop organised by the Nehru Vichara Vedike, Mangaluru, Mr. Jarkiholi said there are a section of people who continue to malign Gandhiji, Ambedkar, and Nehru.
If people are aware of the contribution of these personalities in the growth of the country, they will initiate legal proceedings against those maligning these personalities. Workshops related to these personalities should be held across the country, he said.
Journalist Dinesh Amin Mattu said Congressmen should proudly state the Constitution as their philosophy as the text reflects secularism and brotherhood that Congress stands for. It was Nehru as Prime Minister who made Ambedkar head the Constitution drafting committee.
“The Congress is now carrying out a campaign to save the Constitution,” he said.
