Centre allocated ₹1.08 lakh crore to Telangana in this year’s budget, says Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar
Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Thursday claimed that Telangana has been allocated ₹1.08 lakh crore in the form of taxes and schemes in this year’s Union Budget and accused the Congress government of spreading “false propaganda” against the Centre to divert the attention of the people from its own failure to implement the six promised guarantees to people during the Assembly polls.
Flanked by fellow party leaders including G. Manohar Reddy, S. Prakash Reddy and others, he reeled out figures of allotment for the State in a press conference: ₹29,899 crore has been allocated as tax devolution - which is 10% more when compared to last year. Another ₹21,075 crore was allocated as grants, ₹5,336 crore has been allocated for the development of Railways, which is “20 times” more than during the UPA regime, and ₹2,500 crore will be given as loans for infrastructure and development.
About ₹28,302 crore has been allocated for the development of roads, railways, and aviation sectors, ₹15,640 crore has been allocated for the expansion of national highways, ₹10,285 crore allocated for the development of power, energy, and irrigation sectors, and ₹6,320 crore will be spent on the development of villages and towns, he said.
For construction of houses under the PMAY - Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana ₹2,120 crore was allocated, ₹5,920 crore will be given to benefit farmers through agriculture, cooperation, and animal husbandry departments, ₹5,790 crore for the health and sanitation sectors, said Mr. Sanjay Kumar.
Another ₹4,930 crore will be spent on the development of education and sports sectors, ₹2,150 crore has been allocated for MSME schemes and loan subsidies. Additionally, ₹880 crore has been earmarked for skill development programmes and ₹3,560 crore will be spent on the welfare of women and children.
He further stated that ₹3,290 crore has been allocated for home, national disaster management, and security programmes, ₹5,420 crore has been allocated under Central Welfare Schemes for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to beneficiaries’ accounts, ₹1,210 crore has been allocated for the development of tourism and cultural sectors. Another ₹980 crore will be spent on forest and environment departments.
“Just because the name of a State is not mentioned in the national budget does not mean that funds have not been allocated to the State. Congress leaders are those who cannot see despite having eyes and cannot hear despite having ears. They are just following BRS path. We are ready for an open discussion on what the Centre did and what the State did for villages and towns here,” he challenged.
