Task force formed to combat wild boar attacks after farmer's death, led by MLA K.P. Mohanan.
A task force was formed and began operations on Sunday (March 9, 2025) following the wild boar attack that killed farmer A.K. Sreedharan in Mokeri panchayat in Kannur.
The initiative was launched under the directives of Forest and Wildlife Minister A.K. Saseendran, following a high-level meeting in Mokeri.
The task force, led by MLA K.P. Mohanan, includes authorised shooters, forest officials, and panchayat representatives. Two empanelled shooters from the forest division, Joby Sebastian and C.K. Vinod, assisted in the search for wild boars in the area where the attack occurred. The operation also saw the participation of Mokeri panchayat president P. Valsan, Range Officer Sudheer Neroth, and others.
Mr. Mohanan said the search operations would continue and urged farmers to cooperate with the efforts of the task force. He added that the move seeks to mitigate the rising threat of wild boar attacks on residents and prevent further incidents.
