The Fisheries Startup Conclave 2.0 in Hyderabad promotes entrepreneurship, technology, and sustainability in fisheries with funding and support for startups.
The Department of Fisheries, under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, organised the Fisheries Startup Conclave 2.0 in Hyderabad on Sunday. The event aimed at fostering entrepreneurship, technological advancements and sustainability in the fisheries and aquaculture sectors.
Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh inaugurated the event, alongside Minister of State S.P. Singh Baghel and Prof. Ramesh Chand, Member of NITI Aayog. As part of the event, the Fisheries Startup Grand Challenge 2.0 was launched to support emerging enterprises. A total of 10 winning startups will receive funding of ₹1 crore each, along with structured incubation support from institutions such as the ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology and the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB).
Another highlight of the conclave was the launch of the NFDP Mobile Application, developed under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Samridhi Sah-Yojana (PM-MKSSY). Now available on the Google Play Store, the app is designed to streamline access to government schemes, particularly benefiting startups and stakeholders in the fisheries sector. It enables fishers, fish farmers, vendors and processors to create digital work identities, facilitating their integration into formal financial and welfare systems.
The NFDP mobile app simplifies the registration process, providing ₹100 for self-registration and ₹76 for registrations via Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) of Common Service Centres (CSCs). It also enhances market linkages, strengthens cooperatives, and improves traceability, benefiting over 19 lakh registered users.
