Saksham 2025 walkathon in Coimbatore promotes fuel conservation and environmental sustainability with public awareness campaigns and clean-up initiatives.
As part of Saksham 2025, Indian Oil Corporation Limited’s Indane Divisional Office in Coimbatore conducted a 2.5 km walkathon on fuel conservation at Race Course on Sunday.
Organised under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Saksham aims to raise awareness about the judicious use of petroleum products to ensure environmental sustainability and energy security.
Around 50 Indane staff and distributors participated in the event. V. Ganesh, an Indian Oil official, said the walkathon marked the start of a 14-day awareness campaign on fuel conservation. The campaign includes public training sessions on the status of depleting fossil fuels and efficient fuel usage, such as maintaining optimal tyre pressure and switching off engines at signals. It will also introduce fuel-efficient products, including high-efficiency gas stoves and LPG-saving accessories.
In a separate event, Hirotec India, in collaboration with the Residents Awareness Association of Coimbatore (RAAC), organised a 3.5 km plogging walkathon in Keeranatham Village on Sunday. The initiative encouraged participants to pick up litter while walking, promoting environmental responsibility.
Corporate employees, locals, and environmental activists participated in the walkathon, collecting 26 kg of plastic waste. The CSR event supported Keeranatham’s eco-friendly initiatives and highlighted the importance of individual contributions to maintaining a cleaner environment.
