BRS to hold public meeting for silver jubilee celebration, focus on strengthening organization and addressing people's concerns.
HYDERABAD
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has decided to hold a public meeting on April 27 to coincide with its silver jubilee (25th) foundation day and the venue of the meeting will be decided in the next 4-5 days.
It was one of the decisions taken at the party’s extended executive committee meeting chaired by party president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at Telangana Bhavan here on Wednesday. The meeting has also decided to hold the silver jubilee celebration year-long.
According to the party leaders, the meeting discussed at length the neglect of the Congress government in protecting the State’s share in the Krishna water as Andhra Pradesh was drawing and diverting water in excess of its allocation with the neighbour State taking away over 646 tmc ft of water in less than nine months — as on February 10.
Apart from organising the silver jubilee celebrations, the party chief has issued instructions to party leaders on the membership drive, organisational elections, plenary and others. Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao said at the meeting that the party would return to power 100% in the next elections.
Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao stated that several committees would be formed to organise the party’s plenary and the year-long silver jubilee celebrations and senior leader T. Harish Rao would be in-charge of all those committees. All senior leaders of the party, including sitting and former members of Parliament, legislators, former ministers, former chairpersons of the State-level corporations, zilla parishads and others.
Speaking to newspersons after the meeting, working president of the party K.T. Rama Rao said the meeting had discussed the party’s journey since its inception. He stated that both BRS and Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao at the helm of the State were necessary to safeguard the interests of Telangana. He stressed the need to expose the failures of the Congress government so that sacrifices of those fought for Statehood were not wasted.
