VIT's Riviera 2025: International sports and cultural fest with 45,000 students from 26 countries, featuring top performers.
The four-day annual international sports and cultural festival of the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), ‘Riviera 2025’, will begin on February 20.
According to a press release, this is the 22nd edition of Riviera since it was launched in 2002. This year, the festival will feature over 45,000 students from 80 universities and colleges representing 26 countries in Asia, Europe and Africa. Some of the participating countries include Portugal, Sweden, Belgium, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Cambodia, Romania, Laos, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Peru, China, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Iran, Nepal and Malaysia.
Former Indian women’s basketball captain Anitha Pauldurai will inaugurate the event on Thursday, and actor Sonu Sood will be the chief guest for the valedictory function on Sunday.
The event will include performances by singer Shreya Ghoshal and DJ Paroma on February 20. Singer Jonita Gandhi and Manjari Ft. Bennet and the Band will participate in the festival on February 21.
Music director G.V. Prakash will make a special appearance, followed by performances by the Mohan Sisters (Neeti, Shakti and Mukti) on Saturday. DJ Rink will present the evening performance on Sunday, the concluding day of the festival.
Riviera 2025 will also have flagship events including Aikya – cultural parade of all States; Infusion – a one-of-its-kind cultural and traditional stage performance by foreign participants; Thamizhi – an exclusive Tamil entertainment show by Rajmohan and MD Music Band; Kalaa 2.0 – performances by Bharat Music and Blind School Students; Agam – Tamil performances by Vaisagh Baburaj, Naren Prasath and Athirchi Arun; and a marathon.
The theme for this year’s marathon is “Run for Health”. Over 4,000 students will participate in the marathon covering 9.9 km. The total prize money for Riviera 2025 is ₹25 lakh, the release said.
