The Tambaram police on Wednesday (February 5, 2025) arrested two persons, including a 55-year-old autorickshaw driver, on charges of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor girl outside the Kilambakkam bus terminus in Chennai.

The Guduvanchery police had formed six special teams to arrest three persons allegedly involved in the abduction and sexual assault of the minor on Monday (February 3, 2025) night. A senior police officer of the Tambaram Police Commissionerate said they had arrested autorickshaw driver Muthamizhselvan, the prime accused in the case, and another man named Dayalan.
The police said Muthamizhselvan had kidnapped the minor girl who was waiting outside the bus terminus to go to her relative’s house in the city, before sexually assaulting her with two others in the running auto.
Three more persons were interrogated to identify the third accused. The second accused Dayalan is a history sheeter involved in several criminal cases, the police officer said.
