Treatment for Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) included under Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka

Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust (SAST), the nodal agency implementing the health schemes of Karnataka, has been directed to specify the cost as per the guidance document regarding Health Benefit Package (HBP) 2022 after getting the same approved through the expert committee.
Following the recent outbreak of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS), a rare neurological condition in Pune, the Health Department has included Intravenous Immunoglobulin (IVIG) therapy for the treatment of GBS under Ayushman Bharat - Arogya Karnataka (AB-ArK) health scheme.
According to a government order (GO), the government of Karnataka has approved inclusion of IVIG therapy for GBS as an add-on procedure code under 2B category in the benefit package of AB-ArK subject to a limit of ₹10 crore annually.
Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust (SAST), the nodal agency implementing the health schemes of Karnataka, has been directed to specify the rates of the above-mentioned newly added code as per the guidance document regarding Health Benefit Package (HBP) 2022 after getting the same approved through the expert committee, states the GO.
The government of Karnataka has also ratified the order by SAST for blocking and removing of Episiotomy (2A.S4.00073) code for utilisation by all Public Health Institutions (PHIs) and for blocking and removing Pyrexia of unknown origin (2A.M1.00036), diarrhoea (2A.M2.00028) for utilisation in all Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs).
