The Sansthan has provided over 40,000 prosthetic limbs to date, and aims to restore the lives of thousands of disabled individuals in Karnataka with the help of local donors.
Narayan Seva Sansthan, an NGO that has received a national award for its contributions to humanity and disability, is organising a large-scale free camp to offer a new lease on life to differently-abled individuals in Karnataka.
The event will take place in Bengaluru on February 2 at Chandrasagar Kalyana Mantapa, No. 266, T. Mariappa Road, near Ashoka pillar, 2nd Block, Jayanagar from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Devendra Choubisa, the trustee and director of the Sansthan, stated that the organisation is committed to providing relief to people living with disabilities, particularly those who have lost their limbs due to accident or illness.
With the aim of helping disabled people in Karnataka, the Sansthan is organising its third free disability prevention and Narayan limb measurement camp.
Mr Choubisa explained that this free camp is part of the ‘Quan pyaase ke paas’ initiative. People with disabilities will be examined by a team of experienced orthotists and prosthetic experts from the Sansthan.
Systematic casting and measurement would be done for high-quality, lightweight, and durable Narayan artificial limbs. After about two months, modular artificial limbs made to the specific measurements will be distributed free of charge during a fitting camp.
Mr Choubisa, media director Bhagwan Prasad Gaur, ashram in-charge and camp coordinator Khubilal Menaria, and Mumbai branch in-charge Lalit Lohar unveiled the camp’s poster.
Architecture Discipline has designed India’s first residence built with glulam — glue laminated timber — in Goa. The 8,650 sq.ft. home is perched on a steeply sloped site with views of the Arabian Sea and Chapora river. The team designed the home as a kit of parts: columns, beams, and modules that can be unscrewed and relocated after 50 or 70 years.
