The final round of Squid Game is officially set. Netflix has announced that the highly anticipated third and final season of the global phenomenon will premiere on June 27, bringing the intense survival drama to its conclusion.
Following the shocking events of Squid Game Season 2, which debuted on December 26, the final season will continue Gi-hun’s (Lee Jung-jae) relentless quest to dismantle the deadly competition. Season 2 saw Gi-hun return to the sinister game three years after his victory, determined to stop it once and for all. Fans were left on edge after a major cliffhanger and a mid-credits scene hinted at what’s to come in the series’ final installment.
Returning alongside Lee are Wi Ha-jun as police officer Jun-ho and Lee Byung-hun as the enigmatic Front Man. Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk continues to serve as director and executive producer, with Kim Ji-yeon also producing.
Squid Game has become a cultural juggernaut, with Season 2 ranking as the second-most-watched non-English series on Netflix, amassing over 173 million views and 1.2 billion hours watched. Season 1 remains the most-watched Netflix series of all time and earned 17 Emmy nominations, winning six.
