Tipitaka chanting by monks reverberates through Buddha Vihar in Kalaburagi

Devotional Tipitaka chanting by 108 monks at Buddha Vihar in Kalaburagi for five hours celebrates Tipitaka Saddhamma Sajjhayana.
The magnificent Buddha Vihar on the outskirts of Kalaburagi on Tuesday witnessed devotionally charged Tipitaka (sacred texts) chanting by monks and Buddhist followers for five hours to mark the Tipitaka Saddhamma Sajjhayana celebrations.
The event, in which as many as 108 monks who arrived from different parts of India and other countries participated, was organised by the Siddhartha Vihara Trust and the Bengaluru-based Maha Bodhi Society.
The ceremony was flagged off with a grand welcome with petal showers for the monks at Ashoka Gate outside the splendid Buddha Vihar. Panchsheel flags were waved during the short procession that carried the monks to the Buddha Vihar. Charity and donation activities followed.
The Tipitaka chanting began at about 1 p.m. and went on for five hours inside the grand white structure.
Monks from Vietnam, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, the United States and other countries, apart from those who arrived from different parts of India, chanted portions of the Vinaya Pitaka, the Sutta Pitaka and the Abhidhamma Pitaka in Pali language.
Later, Bhikkhu Ananda Bhante from the Maha Bodhi Society translated the essence of the Tipitaka and Buddha’s messages into Kannada for the audience.
