
State Board class 10 public exams begin in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu class 10 public exams begin with over 9 lakh candidates, students find paper easier than expected.
The State Board class 10 public exams began in Tamil Nadu on Friday (March 28, 2025). Over 9 lakh candidates had registered to take up the exam across Tamil Nadu. The exam for Tamil subject was held on day one.
“It was easier than expected and if attempted properly, it would be easy to score a centum,” said S. Zakira, a class 10 student of Lady Willingdon Government Girls Higher Secondary School at Triplicane in Chennai.
A total of 9,13,084 students including 4,46,471 boys and 4,40,499 girls from 12,487 schools across the State have registered to write the examinations in 4,113 examination centres. As many as 25,841 individual candidates, 273 inmate candidates and 15,729 candidates with disabilities are also writing the public exam.
Further, 48,500 teachers have been deputed for exam duty with over 4,800 flying squad members deployed.
Stating the paper was easier than expected, a teacher with the N.K.T. National Girls Higher Secondary School in Chennai said, “We are very glad that our efforts have paid off. All the students have only positive opinion about their examination attempts.”
Earlier in the day, the Minister for School Education Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi conducted an inspection at Lady Willingdon Government Girls Higher Secondary School examination rooms and also wished students to perform well in the exams.
Greeting students in a post on X social media platform, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said, “Write exams without fear or anxiety and pursue higher studies to go forward in life.”
