
Parts of T.N. may get respite from searing heat for next four days

April brings mild temperatures, scattered rainfall, and relief from summer heat in Tamil Nadu till April 5.
April is likely to begin with relatively mild temperatures in some parts of the State, bringing relief from summer heat in the first week. A trough will influence scattered rainfall and a drop in maximum temperature over some districts till April 5.
Interior areas that were reeling under sizzling weather and peaking mercury level may have a respite for a few days.
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) Chennai has said the maximum temperature may gradually fallby 2-3 degrees Celsius from Tuesday to April 5. Tamil Nadu may witness a normal or below normal temperature in some pockets from Wednesday onwards.
On Monday, the maximum temperature remained close to normal in most parts of the State. Karur Paramathi recorded the hottest temperature of 38 degrees Celsius in the State for the day. Chennai’s Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam recorded a slightly below normal temperature of 33.2 degrees Celsius and 34.5 degrees Celsius respectively.
According to RMC, scattered rainfall of light to moderate intensity may cover up to 50% of the weather stations in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry from Wednesday, and wet weather may last till April 5. It may be limited to one or two places in the State from April 6.
P. Senthamarai Kannan, Director, Area Cyclone Warning Centre, RMC, Chennai, said a north-south trough running up to north Tamil Nadu may have an impact over the State. The extent of rainfall would depend on its changing position and interaction with other minor weather systems. However, a drop in maximum temperature can be expected in the next four days.
Chennai may record a close to normal maximum temperature of 34-35 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
