Three Indian fishermen arrested by Sri Lankan Navy for poaching near International Maritime Boundary Line.
Three Indian fishermen from Thangachimadam in Ramanathapuram district were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy on Tuesday (March 18, 2025).
According to sources, the mechanised fishing boat with three men onboard had taken off from Rameswaram on Monday night. During early hours on Tuesday, Sri Lankan Navy, while on their regular patrolling near Neduntheevu, found the fishing boat to have trespassed the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL).
Following this, they apprehended A. Shankar (53), D. Arjunan (35) and S. Murugesan (49) of Thangachimadam on charges of poaching and seized the boat.

The Puducherry government has decided to launch a scheme on April 14, 2025, to distribute free 20-litre water cans to households in places in the Union Territory (UT) where the quality of drinking water has deteriorated, Minister for Public Works K. Lakshminarayanan informed the Assembly on Wednesday (March 19, 2025).
