Sonia Gandhi following her husband to India is Indian culture, BJP wouldn’t understand that, says Jagga Reddy

Former MLA questions BJP leaders' sincerity towards Indian culture for criticizing Sonia Gandhi's commitment to India.
Former MLA and TPCC working president T Jagga Reddy questioned the sincerity of the BJP leaders towards Indian culture for not accepting Sonia Gandhi’s commitment to India despite being born and raised in another country.
At a press conference here, he wondered whether the BJP leaders like Union Minister Bandi Sanjay really understood the Hindu culture by raking up the caste and religion of Ms. Gandhi. “She has married a Hindu Brahmin Rajiv Gandhi and preferred to spend her life in India following her husband. What is BJP’s problem?” he asked.
“As per the Indian culture a woman who follows her husband leaving her birth country automatically gets the status of her husband’s religion and caste. Instead of appreciating a lady who decided to spend her life in India with her husband, the BJP is bent upon turning it into a controversy,” he said lashing out at Mr. Bandi Sanjay, who raked up the issue of Rahul Gandhi’s caste.
The Gandhi family, he said, was above religions and castes and their role in India’s independence struggle and later their personal sacrifices for country’s integrity can never be understood by the BJP leaders who were not part of the freedom struggle.
Mr. Reddy also recalled Sonia Gandhi’s refusal to become the Prime Minister despite majority MPs wanting her to be the PM, and instead she chose an intellectual like Manmohan Singh. PV Narasimha Rao too became the Prime Minister with her support. Can the BJP ever make such political sacrifices, he asked reminding that L K Advani was ignored despite his contribution to the party. “Without Advani’s rath yathra BJP wouldn’t have been where it is now,” he claimed.
He advised Mr. Bandi Sanjay to be more graceful in politics rather than uttering such offensive words against the Gandhi family.
