Smugglers flee after leaving 27 kg ganja on Konark Express
Over 26 kilograms of ganja worth ₹13.50 lakh was seized during a special operation conducted by the State Task Force (STF) of the Telangana Excise Department on the Konark Express - running from Bhubaneswar to Mumbai.
Following a tip-off, four STF teams consisting of 25 officials boarded the train at Kazipet and carried out intensive checks till the train reached Secunderabad, about 130 kilometres away. During the operation, suspicious bags were identified, and upon inspection, were found to contain 26.88 kilograms of the contraband.
The individuals responsible for the transport of the contraband remain unidentified. Officials suspect that the culprits may have abandoned the bags and fled upon noticing the presence of enforcement officers on board.
Following the seizure, the confiscated ganja was handed over to the Secunderabad Excise police station sleuths. Efforts are underway to trace those behind smuggling the contraband.
